Usanu Theatre Company
June/July 2006
Mark Hewitt wrote the script for Usanu Theatre Company's one-woman performance, Embrace. Devised and directed by Tamara Groen and performed by Norwegian actress, Karen Ødemark, the project took Italian writer Franca Rame’s provocative monologues, 'Alice in Wonderless Land' 'and 'Rape' as the starting point for a contemporary production revisiting these themes. Text was created - partly in rehearsal - through an openly collaborative process with director and performer.

Embrace was first performed at the Pauper’s Pit, Buxton, as part of a short run at the Buxton Festival Fringe with further performances at the Third Floor Arts Centre, Portsmouth, during July 2006.
