Three things that interest me

1. Writing things down. I'm interested in the whole
rigmarole of people writing things down. Using a
pencil or some other implement to make graphic marks
on paper or some other surface for personal
reference, posterity, or to create messages (often
complex and layered) that may be of interest to
others. I like to see the marks, the graphic evidence
of a human existence, the way the pressure has been
applied.
2. It may sound a bit obvious but I've become interested again in the way in which - in our most private selves - we are very alone and isolated. I'm interested in this as a source of motivation.
3. Anthropologically, I'm interested in the ways in which the artful and purposeful manipulation of the system of communication known as language can be used to entertain, amuse and thrill the tribe with whom you share this facility. Even to allow the species to ponder the nature and purpose of its shared existence.
